Cart Ruts

Rails visible in the stones covering the slopes of the hills above Naxxar towards the pass of the same name. Until now, scientists have not been able to determine with certainty where they came from. According to one theory, they were carved by wheels of carts transporting stone from a nearby quarry. Others, however, believe that this is the result of natural rock erosion, although it is not well known how scratches could be formed so regular and almost forming a path through the rocky ground.
