The church is known as the first baroque Catholic church in the Old Town of Vilnius. It was established in the 17th century in honor of Saint Kazimierz the Prince. The church was modeled on the popular Roman building Il Gesù, and its architects were two Poles, including the famous artist Giovanni Maria Bernardoni.
