The granite monument shows Adam Mickiewicz leaning against a broken column. The author of the project was the Lithuanian sculptor Giedymin Jokūbonis. Although the monument was built in 1984, the first plans for its creation date back to the beginning of the 20th century. The project was abandoned several times. Today, around the sculpture of Mickiewicz, there are 6 reliefs, which are the remains of the previously unrealized vision of Henryk Kuna.
