The main temple in Kaunas is the largest Catholic temple in Lithuania and the only Gothic church in the form of a basilica in the country. Construction began in the 15th century, ended in the 17th century, and over the centuries the building was rebuilt many times. Since 1921, the temple is called a minor basilica.
