Monument unveiled in 1935 to commemorate those who died in the fight for Latvia's freedom. Entirely funded by citizens. At the top of the obelix there is a figure of a woman holding 3 stars in her hands. They symbolize the historical lands from which Latvia was founded. Earlier, a monument depicting Peter the Great on horseback stood in this place.
