The eighteenth-century palace was built according to the design of Bartolomeo Rastrelli as the residence of the Courlandian princes. It is considered one of the most important architect's projects. Originally it consisted of two wings joined in the shape of the letter U. In 1937 it was expanded to form a closed perimeter. Currently, it is the seat of the University of Agriculture.
