Umm al-Rasas

The ancient city has been identified as the biblical Mefaat. They were built on a rectangular plan with dimensions of 158 by 139 m and surrounded by a wall. During the excavation works, the remains of temples, a military garrison and residential buildings were found here. Since 2004, the place is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
