The biosphere reserve belongs to the UNESCO network. It covers the area of the Jordan Valley, and thanks to the diversity of landscapes and geological forms, the largest number of plant and animal species in the country live here. There are over 830 plant species, 215 bird species and 38 mammal species. There are also over 100 archaeological sites.
