Monte Argentario is a peninsula on the Tuscan coast known for its beautiful views and lovely beaches. There are seaside resorts here, and the surrounding area is full of scenic spots and allows for trips to the neighboring Tuscan Archipelago.
In the past, Monte Argentario was an island, but the river rapids formed three strips of land that connected it with the coast. The picturesque Orbetello lagoon was built between them. The whole creates one of the most beautiful parts of the Tuscan coast with an extensive coastline, numerous bays and beaches.
The centers of Monte Argentario are Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole, from which you can sail to the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. In both there are Spanish fortresses built to protect the ports and picturesque buildings of old fishing towns. One of the biggest attractions of Monte Argentario is the Mediterranean Argentario Aquarium, where you can get to know the fauna inhabiting this reservoir.
