Abbey of Monte Maria

The beautiful Benedictine abbey was founded in 1149 or 1150 by Ulrich von Tarasp and other nobles. Located at an altitude of 1,340 meters above sea level, it is the highest abbey in Europe. The baroque style with Romanesque elements dominates here. Today, monks specialize in adult education and guiding tours.
