The fort was built in 1909-1912 by Austria-Hungary as part of the strengthening of the border with Italy. It was to block the gap to Trentino with the Astico and Rio Torto valleys. The fort stands on a rocky hill 1177 m above sea level. It is preserved in a very good condition, and its interior now houses an exhibition devoted to the history of fortifications and their participation in the battles of World War I.
