Local name: Kolugljúfur
The gorge measures approx. 1 km long and reaches 50 m deep. Its bottom flows the Víðiðalsá River, where the picturesque 25-meter Kolufossar Waterfall forms. The name of the gorge comes from the name of the giant Kola, which, according to legend, lived in its vicinity.
