Archaeological Site of Aigai

Local name: Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Βεργίνας

Extensive archaeological site covering the former city of Aigai, identified with the Macedonian capital from the time of Philip II. On its territory there are ruins of a palace, theater, temples, and above all, a huge necropolis with over 300 graves. The most important of them belong to the rulers and their entourage and are presented together with the treasures found in them in the underground museum. You can see the tomb of Philip II here.
