A Venetian fortress built in the 16th century at the end of the peninsula on which Methoni lies. Its farthest out to sea, the lone, defensive tower is located on a small island connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. Methoni is the largest Venetian fortress in the Peloponnese. Its external walls have survived, several buildings within them, the ruins of the Turkish baths and a small church.
