Laganas is a resort town on the island of Zakynthos. It is known for its sandy beach, lively nightlife and turtle colonies that lay their eggs on the beach.
The town has buildings along the sea with numerous hotels and apartments for rent. In its oldest part, some of the old fishing houses have survived, which are now mainly used as restaurants, taverns and small souvenir shops. There is also a port here, which in the past was mainly used for fishing, and now you can also go on a cruise along the coast.
Laganas Beach is one of the most famous in Zakynthos. It is sandy and stretches for several kilometers. There are both developed and organized parts, as well as more secluded sections where you can relax with your own equipment. There are bars and taverns along the beach, and there are also water sports centers.
Sea turtles, which lay their eggs here, are a common sight on Laganas Beach. They are protected and parts of the beach are closed during the breeding season to ensure the animals' peace.
