Benedictine Abbey

Local name: Benediktinerabtei

The origins of the monastery date back to the 11th century, and the development of the abbey established in 1102 was accelerated by the bringing of the relics of the Holy Cross, which have become the destination of numerous pilgrimages organized to this day. Many representatives of the ruling Wittelsbach family, including Otto I (1117-1183), are buried in the crypt of the monastery church.
