Established in 1899, the zoo currently has over 4,000. animals from around the world. The two latest garden zones are the Darwineum opened in 2012 (presentation of the emergence of the world and the evolution of species according to the assumptions of Darwin's theory) and Polarium (a modern house of polar bears and penguins, built in 2018).
