The Duisburg-Nord nature park was created in the second half Of the twentieth century as part of the International Construction Exhibition in the former Thyssen steelworks. On the area of about 200 hectares there are former steelworks buildings surrounded by greenery. Visitors can climb external stairs and ladders to the higher platforms and admire the panorama of Duisburg from the viewing terraces at a height of 70 meters. In the summer, outdoor cinema screenings take place in the park.
The park also has a diving training center located in a former gas tank and over 400 climbing routes of varying difficulty created by the Alpine Association.
The park area looks exceptionally impressive at night, when the objects are illuminated with colorful spotlights.
