The temple dedicated to Emperor Octavian Augustus and his wife Livia dates back to the 1st century BC The fall of the Roman Empire and the Christianization of Gaul led to the use of a pagan building as a church that served the faithful until the French Revolution. In the nineteenth century, the temple was restored to its original character and functions.
