The place is famous for its impressive collection of about 250 historic models of vessels. The museum also presents the unusual connections of Mount Saint Michel with the sea. In the past, the area around the hill was overgrown with a forest, which was annihilated between the 3rd and 8th centuries as a result of rising water levels.
