The present city theater replaced in 1885 the first permanent theater stage, which operated from 1773 in the gardens of the Hotel de Livron. The Italian-style interior is famous for its spectacular dome, decorated with painted, allegorical canvas with a centrally placed figure with a torch - the symbol of the city of Roanne.
