Started in 1147, the construction of the castle led to the creation of a keep, and then continued until the building was given its present shape in the 18th century. Today it is a predominantly Gothic building, with stables built in the 17th century and a large park designed by André Le Nôtre, the court landscape architect of Louis XIV.
