Murol Castle

Murol Castle stands on top of a basalt hill, thanks to which it offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area. It is a medieval stronghold in the high outer walls surrounded additionally by bastion fortifications. Inside, you can see reconstructed interiors from the 14th and 15th centuries.

The castle was built in the 13th century. During the religious wars it was one of the Huguenot strongholds. It was seriously damaged then. It was renovated only in the 20th century. Recently, a private investor has decided to create a medieval center here. Guided tours are organized in the renovated castle. Actors were also employed to recreate scenes from the life of the castle's inhabitants.
