Cité de l'Automobile

Local name: Cité de l'Automobile

Cite d'Automobile is a branch of the National Museum in Mulhouse presenting old vehicles mostly produced in the years 1878–1918. It is one of the largest collections of antique cars in the world. There are over 120 Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari and several hundred other models belonging to about 100 brands.

The museum is housed in the former Schlumpf textile factory. They started the museum collecting old cars and renovating them for their own money. After their death, a foundation was established with the participation of regional authorities, which managed to lead to the fact that the collection remained in Mulhouse.

Cite d'Automobile is considered one of the most important automotive museum in Europe. His collection of about 500 vehicles includes unique models, many of which are prototypes or cars made in just a few copies. The age of the vehicles is also impressive. Most of them are over 100 years old and still functional.
