The Citadel of Montmédy

The citadel was built in the sixteenth century and from the second half. XVII century is in the hands of the French. Inside the defensive walls is a museum dedicated to the evolution of defense systems from the time of the Roman invasion in Gaul to the eighteenth century, and a museum presenting the work of the nineteenth-century French painter - Jules Bastien-Lepage.
