The family home of Jean-François Champollion (1790-1832) is now a museum dedicated to him and the most important work of his life - the reading of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The museum has a copy of the famous Rosetta Stone - a plaque from 196 BC that was used by Champollion to recreate the principles of Egyptian writing.
