Lateral Garonne Canal

The 240 km long canal from the end of the 17th century was entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The trail connecting Garonne with the port of Sète, which crosses dozens of locks, bridges and a 173-meter tunnel, is a great tourist attraction. The construction of the canal took 15 years and led to the financial ruin of its originator, Baron Pierre Paul Riquet.
