The Romanesque building preserved to this day, erected on the ruins of its predecessors in the years 1170-1220, is known for the oldest organ in France. The origins of the cathedral are associated with the cult of St. Nazarius, whose relics found their way to Embrun in the 4th century and made the city a destination for numerous pilgrimages.
