A multiform sculpture made in 1885 by August Rodin. It depicts the townspeople, led by Eustache de Saint-Pierre, who voluntarily surrendered as hostages to English captivity during the Hundred Years War to save the city from destruction. The sculptures are made of bronze. The monument was revolutionary for its time. He was deprived of a central form and stood directly on the ground, not on a pedestal.
