The castle was built in the first half Sixteenth century. Located in the middle of the Indre River, the residence bears the status of a national monument. The castle is considered one of the most important examples of early Renaissance architecture in France. It is also the most popular of the Loire Valley Castles, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
