Ainola

Local name: Ainola

Ainola is a house that belonged between 1904 and 1972 to the family of Jean Sibelius, an outstanding Finnish composer, now transformed into a museum dedicated to his memory. It is located on the shores of Lake Tuusula in Järvenpää. It can only be visited from May to September.

The building was built of wood according to the design of the architect Lars Sonck. Among the items collected there are personal belongings of Sibelius, including a valuable piano, which the composer received on the occasion of his 50th birthday.

As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that the water pipes were installed in the Ainola villa only after the composer's death. Earlier, he did not agree to their creation, because he claimed that the noise they produced would disturb him during his creative work.
