Great Market
Local name: Velké náměstí
The Great Market Square is the main square of Prachtic. It was marked out during the location of the city. It is surrounded by buildings from different eras. Many of them have Renaissance and Baroque facades. The dominant feature of the market is the New Town Hall from the late nineteenth century. It was built in the neo-Renaissance style, modeled on the town hall of German cities.
The market square is a paved square with a few small trees. In its central part there is a 16th century fountain with a figure depicting Justice. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was briefly replaced by the image of Emperor Franz Josef.
Tenement houses around the marketplace present various architectural styles. Some of them have arcades, in which formerly there were merchant stalls. Renaissance tenement houses are decorated with sgraffito decorations, both geometric and figural. The facade of the Bozkov House is decorated with Renaissance paintings depicting scenes from the city's life.
