Crkva sv. Roka, or the church of St. Rocha was built in 1760 as a votive offering for protection against plague. Inside the modest, one-nave temple, built of local stone, there is a life-size figure of St. Rocha - according to the tradition of the guardian of those in debt. From the hill of St. Rocha, on which the temple was erected, offers a view of the entire island.
Every year, on August 16, the inhabitants of the city dress in traditional clothes and go to the church of St. Rocha. They take the figure of the city and island patron from there, in a solemn procession transfer it to the church of St. Archangel Michael - the most important historic building of the city. Men carrying the figure of the saint change several times on the short route, which on the occasion of the procession is decorated with flowers and colorful proportions.
The church Roch and St. Archangel Michael have large clocks with chimes. According to tradition, striking full hours begins in high tones the clock at St. Roch, and after a few beats the lower chimes of St. Michael.
