Vaganski Vrh is the highest (1757 m above sea level) peak of the Welebit range in the Dinaric Mountains. The mountain lies on the popular among advanced mountain tourists route called Vaganski Vrh - Sveto Brdo, on which there are 10 highest, exceeding 1,700 m above sea level peaks of South Velebit. Entering Vaganski Vrh during the summer heat requires proper conditioning preparation, but also supplies sufficient drinking water.
At the very top there is a stone mound with a wooden cross placed on it. Next to it, a metal post with a hubcap was installed, under which there is a notebook of entries, in which you can record your presence. The first entries come from 1982 - the least annotations are dated to the beginning of the 1990s, i.e. during the civil war in former Yugoslavia.
Remnants of warfare are also warnings against leaving the trail, which can be found during the journey to Vaganski Vrh. There is no shortage of former minefields, which, despite the passage of years, have not been fully tested and secured.
