The history of this Benedictine abbey dates back to 651, but most of the buildings that have survived to the present day date from the 16th-18th centuries. Currently, the restored interiors house three museums: historical, automotive and devoted to the work of the French writer Guillaume Apollinaire.
The historical museum is devoted primarily to the history of the abbey. You can see exhibits from local archaeological excavations, as well as two tombs and portraits of former abbots. The Automotive Museum presents the history of the nearby Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps from its inception in the late 19th century to the present day.
The most important historic items, originally located in the monastery church, are now kept in the church of St. Sebastian. They include, among others a carved wooden pulpit and reliquaries with the remains of St. Remaklus and St. Poppo, who was here abbot at the beginning of the 17th century.
