The extensive, sandy beach on the North Sea is approx. 7 km long and 80 m wide on average. It is a perfect place for families with children as well as people who are physically active or looking for a rich nightlife. The beach is divided into five smaller sections, the busiest and most crowded of which is Groot Strand.
There is a well-developed infrastructure here, including toilets, a first aid point and rentals for sunbeds, umbrellas and screens. You can go swimming, surfing and windsurfing. There are beach volleyball courts and numerous bars with snacks and drinks.
In summer, the beach is guarded by lifeguards. Various cultural and sports events are also held there. The western part of the beach is much calmer, so it is a good place for those who avoid the hustle and bustle and crowds.
