The Source of Wisdom (Latin Fons Sapientiae) is the work of Jeff Claerhout, which the sculptor gave the city in 1975 on the occasion of the 550th anniversary of the Catholic University of Leuven. The artist's intention is that the sculpture-fountain depicts a student who "drinks beer and studies the effect of the drink on his mind." On the occasion of holidays and anniversaries, the statue is dressed in student brotherhoods.
