Church of Saint Elizabeth in Ghent

One of the three municipal beginai, secular convents, founded in the 13th century to help the poor and the sick. During the first 100 years of existence, a whole town was created, consisting of a hospital, church and outbuildings. At present, the church has been taken over by the Anglican parish, and the Beguinage serves as a residential building.
