The temple is known for the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary. In 1873, Marquess de Courtebourne-de Nédonchel ordered to erect a copy of the grotto of Lourdes in her garden. Two years later, a miraculous healing took place that caused a rapid influx of pilgrims. To service them, a neo-Gothic church was built in the place of the cave.
