Eisriesenwelt is the largest ice cave system in the world. It stretches 42 km long and is located on the Hochkogel mountain at an altitude of 1641 m above sea level. The temperature inside the cave usually stays below zero, so you should stock up with warm clothing. The route leads to Posselt Hall, a large room with a stalagmite called the Posselt Tower. On the wall there is a large cross, which means the farthest point of exploration led by Antoni Posselt, the explorer of the cave.
The name Eisriesenwelt means the World of Ice Giants. Many of the formations created inside the cave refer to this name. You can see here, among others Hymir's Castle, named after the giant of Norse mythology, the Ice Organ and the 25-meter-high Great Ice Wall. One of the largest rooms in the cave, so-called Alexander von Mörk Cathedral. It is the resting place of a speleologist who studied the caves in 1912. The return trip takes around an hour and 15 minutes.
