Seisenberg Gorge
Local name: Seisenbergklamm
Seisenbergklamm is a gorge near the entrance to the Weissbach nature park. It measures 600 meters long and 50 meters deep. On some sections, the passage narrows to only 80 centimeters wide. It usually takes about an hour to cover the route. Trip to the gorge can be a starting point for hiking on popular tourist routes, including leading to Kalbrunnalmen and Hirschbichl or to the Berchtesgaden National Park.
The gorge was formed at the end of the last ice age, about 12,000 years ago. The road leading through it was built in 1831 by woodcutters transporting wood here. According to local legend, sometimes you can hear the ghosts of those who died here while working.
