Dreifaltigkeitskirche

The Holy Trinity Church is the center of the Cozia Monastery, located near the city of Căciulata. The temple was built of white stone and brick in the second half of the 14th century, modeled on the Serbian church of Crusevat.

The church was rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century and then at the beginning of the 18th century. It was then that the building was given the features of the "Brancoveanu" style, known as the Romanian Renaissance. At that time, an arcaded vestibule, a chapel, a watchtower and a new fountain were added.

The interior of the church is richly decorated with wall paintings. Some of the original frescoes from the 14th century have survived, including a votive painting depicting Mircza the Old, the founder of the monastery. The first iconostasis made of wood was destroyed by fire. The present iconostasis dates from 1907.
