The museum houses the largest collection of gold nuggets and nuggets in Europe, with approx. 2,000 exhibits. They come mainly from domestic mines, including those located in the local Metaliferi mountains, but you can also see objects from around the world. What distinguishes the entire collection is the fact that none of the lumps have been subjected to jewelery treatment.
The collection includes archaeological objects, including tools used for mining and gold processing, which are several thousand years old. They come with photos and illustrations that show how most likely they were used. A significant part of the collection is a collection of ore nuggets and gold nuggets of unique shapes, e.g. in the shape of a leaf, a snake, and even a map of Romania. The museum also houses a collection of minerals and rocks with 800 exhibits.
