7. Tor der Festung

7 The Fortress Gate is located on the north side of the historic center of Alba Iulia, on the third line of fortifications. Thanks to its large size, it allowed a significant number of soldiers to leave the fortress, who could lead lightning attacks. It was quickly decided that its defense would be problematic, so its use was abandoned and it was walled up with a brick wall.

The gate was re-unveiled at the beginning of the 21st century. In 2011, after a series of restoration works that resulted in its present appearance, the Seventh Fortress Gate was opened to tourists.
