Castellan Castle

Lokaler Name: Zamek Kasztelański

The ruins of Zamek Kasztelański are located on the bank of the Barycz River and are surrounded by a historic park. The history of the building dates back to the 13th century, but it was rebuilt many times in the past. It is planned to carry out works aimed at securing the ruins, which would make them accessible to tourists.

Originally, the building was to serve as a bishop's palace. At the time of construction, it was the third largest residence in the whole of Silesia. Its interiors are modern for its time and in line with Western European fashion.

The character of the building changed completely due to the reconstruction in the 14th century. It was then given a defensive character, surrounding the palace with walls and adding a tower to it. Interestingly, the older part of the building was better preserved. Fragments of brick walls have survived to the present day. In the field, you can also find the remains of the moat.
