The building is one of the oldest and most important monuments in Udine. It owes its name to Nicolò Lionelli, who completed the building's design. The building with typical Venetian gothic arches has a white and pink stone facade, and its style, in its entirety, is reminiscent of the Venetian Gothic style. The façade was also decorated with reliefs of evangelists.
