A Gothic-Renaissance basilica originally built in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 15th century. It is a three-nave church on a Latin cross plan with a dome above the intersection of the naves. Adjacent to the main body are chapels funded by famous Roman families, including the Cibo Chapel, often considered one of the most beautiful Renaissance chapels in Rome.
In the main altar there is a painting of the Mother of God with the Child ascribed to Saint Luke. The interior of the church is decorated with Renaissance and Baroque frescoes. You can also see two paintings by Caravaggio, The Conversion of St. Paul and the Crucifixion of St. Peter.weniger
