Fitzgeralds Park

Lokaler Name: Fitzgerald's Park

Fitzgerald Park is situated on the banks of the River Lee, just minutes from the city center. It houses the Cork Museum, the Riverview Coffee Shop, a picturesque pond and a skate park. Children can have fun on the large playground with swings and slides. Throughout the park, there are sculptures depicting important figures from the city's history, including the heroes of the Revolutionary War, Michael Collins and Tom Barry. Other sculptures feature the work of local and national artists.

Fitzgerald Park was originally the site of the Cork Exhibition which was held from 1902-1903. It was a commercial and industrial presentation of the city's economy. After the exhibition, the grounds were converted into a public park. It was named after Edward Fitzgerald, the then mayor of Cork and chairman of the Exhibition Committee. He largely contributed to the organization of the exhibition.
