Jeanie Johnston Großsegler

Lokaler Name: Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship

The Jeanie Johnston tall ship, which is stationed on the River Liffey in Dublin, is a replica of the original ship from the 19th century. Nowadays, it is home to the Museum of the Great Famine, where you can learn about this difficult period of Irish history, as well as the realities of shipping from that period. During the tour, you can see the conditions under which the trip took place. Wax figures of passengers and crew members were placed in various parts of the ship.

The original Jeanie Johnston ship was built in Canada in 1847 and became famous for transporting Irish people to North America during the Great Famine in Ireland. The trip lasted about 7 weeks, and Jeanie Johnston made it several times.

The ship's replica was started to be built in 1993, and then it was put into service in 2003. It was then that she made her first inaugural trip to the United States. Currently, in addition to the museum exhibition, various events take place here.
