Montorgueil Straße
Lokaler Name: Rue Montorgueil
The street is a meeting place for Parisians and tourists. It functions as a kind of shopping and social boulevard. There are many unique restaurants, cafes, bakeries, fish, cheese and wine shops and florists.
One of the biggest attractions located on Rue Montorguell is La Maison Stohrer, which is one of the oldest in Paris, a bakery from the first half of the 18th century, which created a national French delicacy - baba au rhum (yeast dough soaked in alcohol).
The name of the street was created as a result of the merger of two others in 1830.
Claude Monet painted Rue Montorguell in 1878 depicting the National Day and the closing of the World Expo. The painting shows a bird's-eye view of the cheering crowd surrounded by lots of flags.
